Playing in May

Random pictures of Maia and Liam in May.

Maia is looking cool on her walk around the block.

And she loves saying "Cheese" for a picture (which makes it hard to catch her smiling)

Liam became very interested in the loom I had gotten and wanted to help me weave. Since the yarn that the loom came with was perfect Joker colors (green and purple) and Liam LOVES the Joker, I decided that making him a Joker scarf was in order and let him help me make it. Here he is, helping to warp the loom.

Then I let him weave a few rows now and then, when he was in the mood. He quickly grasped the concept, though I had to help pull the weft yarn tight after each pass.

Not too bad, eh? Though most of that is my work. But he did that purple stripe that is at the apron bar, and the green stripe below it (so, fourth and fifth stripes from the top)

All finished!

More Maia and Liam cuteness...

...and sweetness.

Maia is chillin' out in the backyard.

Liam and Maia loved eating their lunch out in the yard at the kiddie table. I would have joined them if my weight wasn't questionable.

Apparently Dave is a fun obstacle to climb.

Liam was excited to see this Minion blimp in the sky.

Liam's kindergarten class had Mystery Readers (volunteer parents) come in and read to the class. I volunteered for one of the days and read several "Mr Putter and Tabby" books to the class. (If you haven't read these, I highly recommend them. Start with "Pours the Tea". After that, "Catch the Cold" is my next favorite.)

Every once in a while, I happen to see a hummingbird moth. I love when these interesting-looking insects visit my garden. And Maia was really taken with it, watching it with calm excitement. It took effort to finally get her to come away from it.

I took the kids to the Collinswood Farmers Market on their opening day. I only took a few pictures but wanted to share. Liam though this mosaic pot was cool.

So, I ordered a canvas bag to carry my loom in, and in order to take advantage of an awesome deal, I needed to add one other small item. So I ordered Small winter leggings for Maia. Except that they are so big on her that Liam can wear them instead...so he wanted to model them for us.
One of the theme-days in Liam's Kindergarten class was Jester day...so I had him wear my colorful Cirque du Soleil shirt (appropriate, don't you think?)

I couldn't resist taking a picture of Maia in this cute outfit. Unfortunately, I couldn't get her to smile at me.

Liam is trying out his bike for the first time this year. He did pretty good once he got going.

Maia was happy to follow along after Liam, carrying the water
We went around the entire block
Once we got back, Maia wanted a turn (well, she just sat on the bike while I pushed. I stopped for a picture).

Maia and Liam enjoyed a picnic outside.

Maia got her move-up letter! She will be in the Toddler 2 class next month!

This was an outfit given to Maia by friends, but...well...this picture makes her look like an 80's...um...girl...

A little better...less street-wise

Liam wanted to show of his Batman shirt.

Mother's Day

Mother's Day was spent just the way I liked it...with my family, both original and current. I was with my parents as well as my sisters, and also with my husband and children. And I was silently thankful that we are all still so close.

Maia wore her brand new spring dress that I bought for her. Total cutie.

It was a little cool for strapless, so we ended up putting a short sweater on her.

Here is a picture of my wonderful family. It's just perfect, don't you think?

And of course, a Mommy picture, with my kids. (Maia would NOT smile)

My nephew Cole snuck into the picture, but he's such a charmer that I was fine with that.

And finally, a picture of MY mom, with all her children. Yeah yeah, it's not Liam or Maia, but it seemed like the best place for it, since I am already celebrating mothers and children.
